PHOTOS: Rep. Schiff Meets with Bay Area Council to Discuss Transit Safety, Housing, Supporting Local Businesses
Washington, D.C.— Today, Representative Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) met with a delegation of business, local government and community leaders from the Bay Area Council.
Schiff and the Council discussed a variety of issues facing the Bay Area – including public safety issues on public transportation, federal funding for scientific research, and the need to significantly expand housing supply in the Bay and beyond. Schiff also remarked on opportunities for increased partnerships to support local businesses and bring jobs to the region – from tech to manufacturing, and more.
In California’s 30th Congressional District, Schiff is known as “the Father of the Gold Line” as a result of his work that led to one of the largest expansions of light rail in California’s history. Schiff has also worked closely with local leaders to deliver federal funding for affordable housing, including by partnering with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass to secure investments for the Gower Street Apartments.
