NEWS: Rep. Schiff Bringing Over $6.5 Million to District in Government Funding Package to Address Housing Crisis
Washington, D.C.— Today, Representative Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) announced that he expects to bring $6.7 million in Community Project Funding to his district that will directly address the ongoing housing crisis in Southern California.
“Housing is a fundamental human right. Yet, too many families throughout California are struggling with the rapidly increasing cost of housing,” said Rep Schiff. “It’s why I’m proud to be securing millions in a key funding bill for these important efforts which will help us tackle the ongoing housing crisis. I will continue to ensure that our tax dollars are being invested back in communities in the Golden State.”
Rep. Schiff championed funding for five projects that will directly address the housing crisis. These include:
- $3,000,000 for Gower Street Apartments Improvements
- $500,000 for Access Center and Tiny Home Village for Unsheltered Families
- $850,000 for Interim Housing for Unhoused Domestic Violence Survivor Mothers and Children
- $850,000 for Permanent Supportive Housing Outdoor Recreation and Accessibility Improvements
- $1,563,727 for Shelter Expansion and Improvement
Schiff has been a consistent supporter of increasing affordable housing. Recently, he introduced the Affordable Housing and Childcare Investment Act, legislation that would address the affordable housing and child care center shortage by investing in the HOME Investment Partnerships Program. In January, Rep. Schiff also voted to expand the Low -Income Housing Tax Credit.
