Rep. Schiff Statement on Announcement of Susan Rice as Next National Security Advisor

Washington, DC –Today, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), a senior Member of the Intelligence Committee,  released the following statement after it was reported that President Obama would nominate current U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice as the next National Security Advisor:

“President Obama will continue a top notch national security team with today’s announcement that Susan Rice, our superb ambassador to the United Nations, will replace Tom Donilon as  national security advisor.  Ambassador Rice brings a wealth of experience, creativity and toughness to the White House and her ability to manage the interagency process will be strengthened by her long service to the President.  At a time when we face a diverse set of foreign policy challenges and opportunities, the President has made an excellent choice.

“I am also delighted that the President has nominated Samantha Power to be our new ambassador to the United Nations.  Dr. Power is a world-renowned expert on the issue of genocide and will bring that expertise and a broad array of skills with her to New York.”
