Congressman Schiff on House Passage of Legislation to Fight Infant Formula Supply Shortages

“The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed vulnerabilities in our supply chains for critical goods – but a sudden shortage of baby formula is as urgent and upsetting as it gets.

“I’m proud to have co-sponsored legislation, passed tonight, that will remove unnecessary barriers to access for families that need it most – because their babies should not be bearing the brunt of this unfortunate crisis. Coupled with the $28 million we approved in emergency funding to help the FDA resolve this shortage and prevent it from ever happening again, this legislation will bring relief to empty shelves and anxious families across the country. The Senate must take up and pass this legislation without delay.”
