Statement: Rep. Schiff Applauds Tentative WGA Deal
Washington D.C. — Today, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) released a statement following the announcement of a tentative deal between the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).
“The tentative deal reached between the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers marks a major moment in the labor and entertainment industries. Their members stood strong together for almost 150 days to reach a fair deal. Importantly, the deal will address better wages and conditions, new streaming residuals, and concerns around artificial intelligence.
I hope that the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) will be able to achieve similar success, and that AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA will arrive at a fair deal for actors that addresses all of the important issues. Once that happens, we must all focus our efforts on getting Hollywood — all its workers and those who support the industry — back on their feet.
The workers in the entertainment industry make the magic on screen happen, and I am thrilled and hopeful they may soon be back at work.”
