Schiff on Senate Approval of Infrastructure and Reconciliation Packages
Burbank, CA – Today, Congressman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) issued the following statement after the Senate passed a bipartisan infrastructure package and approved a $3.5 trillion budget resolution, which would expand the social safety net and make sweeping investments in combatting the climate crisis:
“We find ourselves with a once-in-a-generation opportunity for the United States – a chance to invest in stronger, more modern roads, schools, hospitals, bridges, water supplies, broadband, energy grids, and so much more — all while building an economy that’s more just and equal for all and is powered by green, job-creating technologies. The Senate infrastructure legislation puts us closer to that goal, and I look forward to reviewing the package to ensure the strongest and most inclusive package reaches the president’s desk.
"This bipartisan package must not be the end. We must not lose sight of our promise to invest in the American people as well, including affordable health care and housing, expanded access to education and childcare, a pathway to citizenship for those who've long made their home here, and a modern, green economy that will position us to combat the climate crisis. One must not pass without the other in the House.
"This is an opportunity to bring transformative change for our children and our communities. We must seize it.”
