Schiff Announces $500,000 For Tribal Child Welfare Services Training

Washington, D.C.— Today, Representative Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) announced that the Tribal Law & Policy Institute is receiving a $500,000 grant for child welfare services training. The grant is funded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

“This critical funding for child welfare services training will ensure that Tribal children receive the care and support they need,” said Rep. Schiff. “By enhancing resources of those who serve these often-underserved communities, we can help protect vulnerable children, provide them with a safer environment, and give them the opportunity to thrive while staying connected to their ancestral roots.”

Schiff has been a leader in supporting Tribal communities. He has introduced legislation to address the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP) on tribal lands by encouraging record sharing between Tribal and state/local law enforcement.
