Rep. Schiff Statement on Violence in Jerusalem
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank) issued the following statement on the violence in Jerusalem:
"Tuesday's horrendous and indiscriminate rocket attacks by Hamas threaten civilian lives and safety. They must stop. I fully support Israel’s right to self-defense, and we must continue to bolster Israel’s Iron Dome capability."
"I am also deeply saddened by and mourn the loss of Palestinian lives, including nine children and civilians. We must strive for peace and the assurance of human rights for everyone across the region before more lives are tragically lost."
"The United States and international community must do all we can to restore a measure of calm before the conflict escalates further. Though the path to a two-state solution at times seems far off, we must strive to end the fighting and urge all parties to refrain from actions that inflame tensions."
"My thoughts are with the Israeli and Palestinian people suffering the loss of loved ones, and I pray for an end to the violence and for peace."
