Rep. Schiff Statement on Agreement Between Israel and the United Arab Emirates
Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) released the following statement:
“The agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates to begin a process to normalize diplomatic relations is a welcome development that builds on long-standing bipartisan diplomatic efforts toward ensuring a secure, prosperous Israel, living peacefully among its neighbors. I am also pleased that the announcement has been accompanied by a suspension of plans by Israel to unilaterally annex portions of the West Bank, a move that would jeopardize prospects for a two state solution.
“It continues to be in the interests of both the United States and Israel to pursue a future in which a democratic Israel stands side-by-side with its neighbors in the region, alongside a sovereign Palestinian state, and I hope that today marks important progress towards that vision.”
