Rep. Schiff Brings in Over $17 Million for New Terminal at the Burbank Airport
Washington, D.C.— Representative Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) helped bring in over $17 million dollars for a new top of the line terminal for the Bob Hope Burbank (BUR) Airport. The replacement terminal, made possible by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (Bipartisan Infrastructure Law), will increase efficiency for travelers, enhance passenger safety, and cut down on emissions.
“Building a new terminal at the Bob Hope Burbank Airport represents not just an upgrade in our airport infrastructure, but the value of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to our community’s economic growth,” said Rep. Schiff. “This new investment will improve the aging facility, increase safety for passengers and residents, and support our local economy. This project is a testament to what we can achieve when federal lawmakers and local partners work together to benefit the people of California.”
Specifically, the money will be used for:
- New Amenities: The new terminal will offer a variety of options for shopping and dining, upgraded restrooms, and more space to move about. A new ticketing lobby, baggage screening system, updated TSA checkpoint and new baggage claim area will make traveling easier.
- Improved Access & Safety: The safety of passengers and employees is the top priority. The design of the new facility includes added distance between airport runways and the terminal building. It also includes updates to meet current earthquake design and ADA accessibility standards. For passengers, they include a 45,900-square-foot aircraft parking area for boarding and deplaning, a new parking structure with EV charging, and a new on-airport access road.
- Sustainable Solutions: As part of the commitment to air emissions reduction and sustainability, the new terminal is designed to reduce the airport’s overall emissions and achieve a minimum of LEED Silver certification. Sustainable features include electrical vehicle charging, electric ground service equipment airside, water use reduction connections to our regional transit network.
