Rep. Schiff Announces Over $732,000 in Funding for Innovative Mental Health Research at Children's Hospital Los Angeles
Washington, D.C.— Today, Representative Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) announced that Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is receiving over $732,000 in grant funding from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for innovative mental health research.
"I am thrilled to see over $732,000 in funding directed to Children's Hospital Los Angeles for youth mental health research. These grants for innovative research are crucial in addressing the growing mental health needs of our young people. I am grateful to CHLA for their commitment to ensuring that the youth in Los Angeles have access to the support and care they deserve,” said Rep. Schiff.
Schiff already announced over $3,000,000 in federal funding for CHLA to help fund the training of pediatric medical residents earlier this year.
In addition to his support for Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Schiff urged the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to adopt a new guaranteed income pilot program to help improve health outcomes for qualifying low income individuals. He also led the Support Faculty and Expand Access to Nursing School Act that would provide HHS grant funding to nursing schools so they can expand their capacity to train nurses. Schiff also introduced bipartisan legislation to address the spike in cybersecurity attacks against American health care systems by requiring HHS Inspector General to perform consistent evaluations of the Department’s cybersecurity systems and report its findings to Congress.
