Rep. Adam Schiff Releases Statement on Passage of Continuing Resolution
Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) released the following statement on the passage of a 45 day continuing resolution to fund the government.
“Today's bipartisan continuing resolution, while not perfect, upholds our fundamental duty of funding the government and provides crucial support for disaster relief, the FAA, and our service members. I supported this bill to prevent a government shutdown, which would harm our recovering economy and families across the nation.
It was the responsible thing to do.
Nevertheless, the GOP’s insistence that the bill exclude support for Ukraine sends a terrible message about America’s commitment to democracy and I will be doing everything possible to restore this funding in the coming days and weeks. While we took an important step today, let’s not forget we will be back in the same place in 45 days, with an extreme Republican House that is unwilling to govern. The only way forward is for Kevin McCarthy to bring a long-term bipartisan solution to the House floor which funds our government with the proper resources it needs to serve the American people.”
