NEWS: Rep. Schiff Receives A+ on Annual End Citizens United Legislative Scorecard
Washington, D.C.— Representative Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) received an A+ on this year's End Citizens United legislative scorecard for his voting record on stopping corruption and strengthening ethics and accountability in Congress.
“Our democracy suffers when the voices of the American people are drowned out by corporate special interests and the endless flow of dark money. It’s why I’ve long led efforts to reform our broken campaign finance system and overturn Citizens United. Dark, unaccountable money should have no place in our democracy,” said Rep. Schiff. “I’m grateful for the recognition from ECU and will continue to push to finally pass robust campaign finance reform.”
“Democrats, under the leadership of Majority Leader Schumer and Leader Jeffries, stand united in safeguarding our democracy. They’re prioritizing legislation that will protect the freedom to vote and get Big Money out of politics so that the American people get a bigger say in their government,” said End Citizens United // Let America Vote Action Fund President Tiffany Muller. “Despite their best efforts, the entire Republican Conference continues to prevent action on these bills. They’re preserving a status quo that is working so well for them and their big donors. We look forward to continuing to work with Democratic leadership and the caucus in both chambers on pathways to pass these bills into law.
Rep. Schiff has been committed to reforming our campaign finance system since his first days in Congress. He has pushed to get dark money out of politics through the reintroduction of a constitutional amendment aimed at overturning Citizens United in each Congress, and through his role in co-sponsoring the bipartisan McCain-Feingold Act which was an early and significant step towards regulating the financing of political campaigns.
