Online voting open for Congressional Arts Competition (Glendale News-Press)

part of a Congressional Arts Competition for young artists sponsored by Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank), online voting for the People's Choice winner is available through Wednesday. To vote, visit schiff.house.gov/help/arts-competition.

The winners of the competition will be announced at 3 p.m. on April 10 in Van de Kemp Hall at Descanso Gardens. The hall is located at 1418 Descanso Drive in La Cañada Flintridge. Parking and admission will be free.

Prior to the announcement of the winners, an exhibit of students’ artwork from the 28th Congressional District will be on display beginning at 1 p.m. A forum will also take place with the awards presentation.

The winning pieces will hang in various places for one year. The first-place winner’s artwork will hang in the U.S. Capitol. The piece awarded second place will hang in Schiff’s Washington, D.C. office, and the third-place winner’s piece will hang in his Burbank district office. The “People’s Choice” winner’s artwork will be displayed in Schiff’s Hollywood district office.

“I am continually blown away by the talent and creativity displayed in the artwork that is submitted from students around the district each year, and this year is no exception,” Schiff said in a statement.

“I look forward to seeing all of these incredible entries in person and welcoming artists and their families to celebrate their accomplishments. I am equally excited to see who our community members choose as their own ‘People’s Choice’ pick,” he added.

To RSVP for the awards event, contact Teresa Lamb Simpson at (818) 450-2900 or (323) 315-5555.
