ICYMI: Reps. Schiff, Eshoo Host a Presentation of the Award-Winning Documentary “CAMPESINOS: America’s Unsung Heroes” in U.S. Capitol
Documentary highlights the struggles farm workers face at the local and national level; yet they feed American families and contribute billions of dollars to U.S. economy
Washington, D.C. — In case you missed it, yesterday, Representatives Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.) hosted a screening and panel for the documentary “CAMPESINOS: America’s Unsung Heroes” in the U.S. Capitol. The film and discussion focused on bringing awareness to the struggles farm workers – particularly migrant farm workers – face in California and across the country, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how legislators can advocate for them in the future.
The panelists included:
- Dr. Belinda Hernandez Arriaga - Executive Director and Founder of Ayudando Latinos A Soñar (ALAS).
- Joe Poni - Director and Producer of “CAMPESINOS: America's Unsung Heroes” & Founder of Experior Media and Partner at The SVL Agency.
- Alex Ontiveros - Producer of “CAMPESINOS: America's Unsung Heroes” &
- Founder of Silicon Valley Latino and The SVL Agency.
- Diego Iñiguez-López - Director of Government Affairs at the UFW Foundation.
Representatives Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) and Mike Levin (D-Calif.) were also in attendance. The documentary is directed and produced by The SVL Agency, Joe Poni, and Alex Ontiveros, based in Silicon Valley, California. Joe and Alex are advocates for farm workers’ rights.
