Rep. Schiff Statement Following Announcement of FTC Suing to Stop Kroger, Albertsons Merger

Washington, D.C.— Today, Representative Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) released a statement following the announcement of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) suing to stop the merger of Kroger & Albertsons.

“The $24.6 billion merger between Albertsons and Kroger would harm consumers and employees. It would drive up prices, cost workers jobs, and reduce competition. Wonder why food prices are so high — these mergers are a big part of the reason. The FTC is making the right call to sue to block this.”

Schiff’s statement comes after he urged FTC Chair Linda Kahn to evaluate this potential merger’s impact on jobs and prices.
