Rep. Schiff Addresses Burbank Students During Gun Violence Walkout
Schiff Joined Students and Faculty at John Burroughs High School in Support of Gun Safety Reform
Burbank, CA – Today, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank) addressed the students and faculty of John Burroughs High School during their Students Against Gun Violence Walkout to highlight the need for common-sense gun safety reform.
“Across America, students and families have responded to the tragedy of gun violence with strength, resolve, and a clear message to Congress – enough is enough.” Rep. Schiff said. “It was an honor to join the students and faculty of John Burroughs High School in Burbank today for their Students Against Gun Violence Walkout. This week we also marks the anniversary of two horrific mass shootings at Virginia Tech and at Columbine High School. Even though years have passed, these tragedies are painful reminders of the lasting effects of gun violence on communities across the country.”
In addition to students from the Students Against Gun Violence Club, Assemblywoman Laura Friedman, Burbank School District Superintendent Dr. Matt Hill and Principal of John Burroughs High School Deborah Madrigal attended the event.
“As we honor the legacy of the lives that have been lost and those that are forever changed, we must heed the call of young activists nationwide, and ensure that their calls to action are answered.” Schiff continued.
The event provided an opportunity for members of the Burroughs community to express their support for gun reform legislation and get involved with gun violence prevention efforts in the Burbank area.
