Schiff honors inspiring women from the 28th District (Beverly Press)

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank) on March 18 honored a group of inspiring women from communities in his 28th Congressional District.

“I met with nine women with varying backgrounds and interests, who have all worked tirelessly to make our communities a better place to call home. It was an honor to recognize their outstanding work in the 28th District,” Schiff said. “Each of these women has worked to support a myriad of charitable, business and local causes. They are all pillars in our communities and I thank them for their indomitable service.”

Land was recognized as Woman of the Year from West Hollywood. A dedicated public servant, Land served 23 years on The West Hollywood City Council, including five terms as mayor. She helped create the city’s Women’s Advisory Board, Disabilities Advisory Board and domestic violence prevention program for same-sex couples, and influenced policy at the local, state and federal levels. Land is currently the executive director and CEO of the Trevor Project, a nationally recognized nonprofit providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention for LGBTQ youth.

Perrette was honored as the representative of Hollywood. Perhaps best known for her role as Abby Sciuto on the CBS Television Series “NCIS,” The actress is an accomplished artist, writer, photographer and civil rights activist who works with over 30 charities including Project Angel Food, AIDS Project Los Angeles, the Trevor Project, LAFD Foundation, Habitat for Humanities, the Thirst Project, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, the Make a Wish Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
