WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Representative Adam Schiff met with Paula Moren of Burbank who is serving as a Congressional Page in Washington, D.C. Paula was nominated to be a Page by Rep. Schiff and appointed to the Page Program by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. Paula started her term as a House Page on June 10th and will complete her work this Friday.
“It was wonderful to meet Paula today, and I am grateful for her work here in Washington over the last few weeks,” said Schiff. “After meeting Paula, I can confidently say that she is destined for success in all her endeavors.”
“This opportunity to get a close up view of how the House works has been amazing,” said Paula Moren. “Not only have I learned more about our government, but I’ve been able to meet Members of Congress and politically active students.”
The Congressional Page Program offers high school students an opportunity to experience Congress in action and assist with official House duties. Upholding a tradition over 200 years old, House Pages deliver correspondence and legislative material throughout the Capitol Complex. Pages also work within the Democratic and Republican cloakrooms taking messages and answering phones.
Paula recently finished her junior year at Burbank High School where she is the captain of the varsity water polo team and Co-Secretary General of the Model United Nations. Paula also participates in the Key Club and the Burbank Sister City Committee.
Rep. Schiff was recently appointed to serve on the House Appropriations Committee in the 110th Congress and is a member of its Commerce, Justice, and Science Subcommittee, the State Department and Foreign Operations Subcommittee, and the Select Intelligence Oversight Panel. He also serves on the House Judiciary Committee and its Subcommittee on the Courts, the Internet, and Intellectual Property. He represents California’s 29th Congressional District, which includes the communities of Alhambra, Altadena, Burbank, East Pasadena, East San Gabriel, Glendale, Monterey Park, Pasadena, San Gabriel, South Pasadena and Temple City.
