WASHINGTON, DC – House Committee on Small Business Chairman Donald Manzullo (R-IL) and Congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA) will lead a Congressional Delegation to The People’s Republic of China with stops in Beijing, Ligiang, Lhasa and Shanghai. Schiff will serve as Vice-Chair of the 12 member delegation, and is the leading Democrat in the group.
“With the world’s largest population, China will continue to be a growing trade and military power throughout the 21st century,” said Schiff. “I’m looking forward to meeting with Chinese officials to discuss national security, economic and human rights issues.”
“Our visit will be very timely, coming on the heels of six party talks with North Korea that will hopefully end their nuclear weapons program. We would like to assist in progress on this vital issue,” said Schiff.
Congressman Schiff is the co-founder of the Democratic Study Group on National Security and a member of both the House Judiciary and International Relations committees. He represents California’s 29th Congressional District, which includes the communities of Alhambra, Altadena, Burbank, East Pasadena, East San Gabriel, Glendale, Monterey Park, Pasadena, San Gabriel, South Pasadena and Temple City.
