Schiff Announces Appointments to U.S. Service Academies
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Adam Schiff announced today that 5 students from the 29th Congressional District have been offered appointments to U.S. Service Academies.
Mark Dodge, a Pasadena resident and student at Polytechnic (Pasadena), and Brian Williams, a Pasadena resident and student at Loyola High School, were offered appointments to the Naval Academy. Brandon Schwartz, a Temple City resident and student at Glendora High School, was offered an appointment to the Air Force Academy, Military Academy (West Point) and the Merchant Marine Academy. Benjamin Soifer, an Altadena resident and student at La Salle High School, was offered an appointment to the Air Force Academy and the Military Academy (West Point). Matthew Tramel, an Altadena resident and student at Blair High School (Pasadena) was offered an appointment to the Military Academy (West Point).
“The service academies provide a tremendous opportunity for young people to obtain a first-class education and serve our country,” said Schiff. “I was extremely proud to nominate these applicants and I know they will be among the future leaders of our country.”
Students interested in applying to a Service Academy in 2006, should call Congressman Schiff’s District Office or visit www.house.gov/Schiff to obtain an application packet. The application deadline is November 18, 2005.
Congressman Schiff has introduced a "Kids First" agenda of initiatives to improve education, safety, and health care for our children. He is the co-founder of the Democratic Study Group on National Security and a member of both the House Judiciary and International Relations committees. He represents California’s 29th Congressional District, which includes the communities of Alhambra, Altadena, Burbank, East Pasadena, East San Gabriel, Glendale, Monterey Park, Pasadena, San Gabriel, South Pasadena and Temple City.
