Kathryn “Kitty” McKnight Will Serve as Silver Representative for 29th Congressional District
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Adam Schiff (CA-29) this week congratulated Kathryn “Kitty” McKnight for her appointment to the National Silver Haired Congress to represent the interests of senior citizens of the 29th Congressional District.
“I have known Kitty personally for many years and know how committed she is to community service,” Congressman Schiff said. “Her experience and knowledge will be an invaluable asset to the National Silver Haired Congress.”
Composed of senior citizens representing all areas of the country, the National Silver Haired Congress holds annual sessions in Washington, DC, enacting resolutions on issues important to senior citizens such as Social Security and health care. The resolutions are then provided to policymakers in Washington, including the President and Members of Congress.
Ms. McKnight has been active in the community for many years. She has volunteered with various organizations such as the YWCA, Planned Parenthood, the Alkebu-Lan Cultural Center and numerous other local and statewide political groups – all the while teaching full-time and raising her family. She has also been a committee member of the State Commission on Teacher Credentialing. She currently serves on the boards of the Pasadena Senior Center, The Links, Inc. and URDC Human Services Corporation. She has won numerous awards such as the Pasadena YWCA’s Woman of Excellence Award, the Peacemaker Award from the Community Non-Violence Resource Center and an award from the United Nations Association.
Congressman Schiff represents California’s 29th Congressional District, which includes the communities of Alhambra, Altadena, Burbank, East Pasadena, East San Gabriel, Glendale, Monterey Park, Pasadena, San Gabriel, South Pasadena and Temple City.
