June 27, 2001 -- Pastor Michael Tyrone Cushman, Sr. of Altadena, center, is presented with a certificate by House Chaplain Daniel P. Coughlin, left, recognizing his delivering the opening prayer at the House of Representatives upon the request of Congressman Schiff, right. For 22 years, Rev. Cushman served at the Pasadena Church of God, one of the most thriving churches in the area. In August 2000, Pastor Cushman was elected first General Overseer of the National Association of the Church of God in Middlesex, Pennsylvania, where he will be responsible for more than 400 churches in the United States, Caribbean, and Africa.
