Congressman Schiff’s official website is stored on the web server of the U.S. House of Representatives. The server used by the U.S. House of Representatives collects and stores only the following information:

• The name of the domain from which you access the Internet (for example, aol.com if you are connecting from an America Online account)
• The date and time you access the site
• The Internet address of the website from which you linked directly to this site or the Internet address of the computer used to link to this site

This information is used for site management purposes. The House server uses software programs to create summary web user statistics. These statistics are used for such purposes as:

• Assessing the number of visitors to Congressional websites
• Determining what information is of the most or least interest to constituents 
• Determining technical design specifications, and
• Identifying system performance or problem areas

If you send an email message or complete a form containing personal information, we collect and store the following information:

• Any personal information which you choose to provide such as mailing address, phone number, etc. as well as comments on legislative issues. We do not and will not obtain personally-identifying information about you without your explicit permission.
• Information collected in this manner is used by my staff solely to respond to you appropriately regarding your inquiry.
• If you are requesting assistance with a casework matter, it may be necessary for my office to share the information you provide with the respective government agency from which you are requesting assistance in order to respond to your request.
